RICHMOND, VA – Delegate Will Morefield (R-North Tazewell) recently commented on the tragedy in Haiti and the response from the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
“This week’s events in Haiti are very tragic and have affected many throughout the state in one way or another,” Delegate Morefield noted. “With estimates of as many as 50,000 people dead, this truly is a catastrophe of global proportions. We have already been notified of some Virginians that have been killed as a result of the earthquake.”
Delegate Morefield noted the sacrifice of many people throughout the Commonwealth who are traveling to Haiti to help with search and recovery efforts. He pointed out that a team from Fairfax has already been deployed to the Caribbean country with others around the state looking at way to help any way possible.
“Words cannot express how appreciative I am of the willingness for the citizens of our great Commonwealth to make the effort to help out their fellow man in a time of great need. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the tragedy and all those who are out who are working hard to help with recovery and aid efforts.”
